Chris Langridge and Heather Olver take Two Titles Each at Czech International

Chris Langridge and Heather Olver hit double top at the Thwack Czech International in Brno today.

The England pair avenged their final defeat in Belgium in mid-September by beating team-mates Marcus Ellis and Gabby White. But the manner of the win was not what they would have wanted as Ellis was forced to retire with an injury when leading 7-6 in the second game after losing the first 22-20.

Langridge and Olver were cruising at 18-12 in the first but Ellis and White recovered to 20-20 before losing the next two points and dropping the opener on the fourth game point.

Olver then returned to the court an hour later with Kate Robertshaw to take on Scotland's third seeds Jillie Cooper and Kirsty Gilmour, who had won the women's singles title in the first match of finals day.

And the England pair came out on top 21-16 21-15 to take the women's doubles title.

Langridge completed his title double when he and Peter Mills got the better of team-mates Peter Briggs and Harley Towler 21-14 21-16 to cap a tournament performance which included beating the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds. The second game was always close until Langridge and Mills reeled off six points in a row from 16-15 down.

Seventh seed Gilmour added the Czech singles title to her Polish triumph last month when she beat fourth seed Sashina Vignes Waran of France 21-18 10-21 21-13 in a 55-minute battle.

The men's singles title went to Joachim Persson in an all-Danish final, beating Kim Bruun 21-11 21-10.
